Intrigued by a blank piece of paper as a child, Ruth
has been creating art for over 50 years. With experience in graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, and oil, Ruth then
discovered acrylics and has focused the past 30 years in that media. This site is evidence of that experience in the
pieces shown from the last 10 years or so of her work. The artist hopes to display the joy of life that reflects
her joy in knowing God.
About the Art
Working in primarily Acrylic, Ruth often uses only 3 primary
colors plus white. Subjects are rarely drawn on the painting surface, but rather pieced in like a puzzle. Using stretched
canvas, canvasette, gessoed board or watercolor paper, the artist creates her work from simple forms to detailed finished
pieces. Photography and graphite are other mediums used frequently by the artist for reference, study and finished
artwork.
